I have a thing for prints. I didn’t even realize that I had such a fascination until I was cleaning out my closet and saw that most of the pieces I hang up are printed. This was an interesting discovery because I have always been a you-can-wear-black-all-day-every-day kind of girl. But I guess maybe there was always that bit of flair and I just hadn’t acknowledged it yet. I think I buy prints because I think there’s not enough in my wardrobe and I’m trying something different, and then end up with a collection!

But prints are great! They are the standout piece of any look. I will have a post soon about mixing prints (there is a subtle art to it), but for this outfit I chose to go with one standout print piece and keep the rest black. My mom got me these pants and I’m absolutely obsessed with them. They have a looser fit, and feel so comfortable; I could wear them for days. The pattern is very summery, with cool pink and blue pastels. The cut is one of my favorite parts. They cut off right at the ankle, which looks great on me and is the style of pant I prefer. This allows me to wear such a large assortment of shoes with them.

I tucked a black tank top into the pants and threw on a slightly over-sized black blazer on top. This blazer is so beautiful in it’s detailing, from the buttons to the ruffles. I think details are what makes clothing special and so much fun to style. To finish it off, I slipped into a pair of classic black, no fuss, Coach pumps. They’re the perfect work shoe, elegant, with an appropriate heel height, and they go with everything.
So next time you’re questioning that printed piece that’s been hanging in your closet for a while, I say go for it! Pair it with neutrals and you can’t go wrong.
