Surprise, color! This is the day two outfit of my wear everything in your closet, in order of how it’s hung up challenge. It’s bold, fun, and I really enjoyed sporting this look. Like I wrote in yesterday’s post, it’s helping me get out a bit of a fashion rut and embrace some of the creativity I had lost in my style.
So this top I had bought at Express several years ago, and I always tend to wear it with dark skinny jeans to balance out both the color and the peplum. But I’d done that already and it was time for something different. So what’s different than the usual black? More color of course!
Now don’t call me crazy just yet. There is a way to do bright red and all the shades of purple and blue right, and I think I’ve managed to create a cohesive outfit. Though these colors would clash according to traditional rules, it works because I utilized figure flattering, classic silhoutes and paired all that rainbow down with a black suede duster, which pulls everything together, and black loafers. It’s also important to have flow in the colors. There are hints of red in the top, which make the transition to the bold red pant that much smoother. I’m not that traditional anyways.
And let’s chat about this vest for just a minute longer. First of all it’s suede, which I can already tell will be my new love this fall. I know, I know, it’s still August and way too early for warmer textures, but we’ve experienced some cool weather lately and I just can’t wait! I had been searching for a longer vest like this for quite some time now and I’m excited throw it over fitted long sleeve shirts and jeans for that totally effortlessly chic vibe.
I’m working on getting a post up on that purple printed wrap maxi I showcased on Instagram last weekend. Watch out for it tomorrow!
