Two ways to style a white cashmere sweater this fall

cashmere sweater

What I’m wearing:

Outfit 1: Sweater- Vince, Shorts- (similar), Boots- Via Spiga (similar), Bag- Zac Posen (my exact one is sold out, but here’s a very similar one)

Outfit 2: Sweater- Vince, Skirt- Loft (this one might be even cuter!), Shoes- Coach

I’m in love with this cashmere sweater. All cashmere really. There’s just something about the quality, how durable, yet soft it is, that can’t be beat. And it’s versatile too. Of course, traditionally it’s reserved for the colder months of the year, but I decided to start early and styled this white cashmere sweater two ways for the fall. The first look is perfect for a patio date night on a late October night (you know when you can still wear shorts, but want to pretend it’s fall so you also throw on a sweater), and the second look is great for work or a networking coffee. Read on to see how easy both are to style.

Three ways to make a flowy dress interesting again

flowy dress

What I’m wearing: Dress- BCBGMaxazaria (similar), Shoes- Schutz, Sunglasses- Gucci (they’re sold out so here are some similar)

I love flowy pieces. I especially love flowy dresses. They’re just so effortless, you throw one on with a pair of boots and a cute accessory like a hat or a long chain necklace and you’ve got the most chic boho outfit set to go. Of course there’s also a point when a flowy dress gets boring, or is used too often to hide parts of our bodies. So how do you make flowy dresses interesting again? Here are my thoughts.

outfit idea

Fall is here! Of course it’s 90 degrees today and still feels like the dead of August, but I have hope that the weather will turn soon. I have too many plans to go apple picking, fall foliaging, and pumpkin scouting for it not to.

So what do you wear when it’s kind of fall, but not? I mean you know cooler in the morning, hot in the afternoon, and cooler again at night? You definitely want to layer, and I’ve got a great transitional outfit idea for you.

Gray Skater Dress

Skater Dress

Photography: Greg Beuning

Wearing: Urban Outfitters dress (similar), Sam Edelman sandals, Zac by Zac Posen bag, Michael Kors sunglasses, Midori Linea necklaces

I’ve had this gray dress for years and I never run out of ways to wear it. It reminds me of a skater dress that I could wear with black converse high-tops, and though those days are mostly behind us, there’s something to be said about a youthful piece that can repurposed.

Ruffle dress as skirt

Ruffle dress as skirt

Wearing: Alexander Wang tank, Lou Lou Boutiques skirt (repurposed dress), Whistle & Wild duster, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Michael Kors Sunglasses, (similar) mules

Happy Monday!

I wore this outfit a couple weeks ago and I was really feeling like doing something creative. So I repurposed a dress as a skirt. This ruffle dress (I call it my cupcake dress) has served me well, and I’ve been able to wear it to tons of places this summer. I did a feature on it in a previous blog post about Miami, which you can read here.

Red dress, white sandals

Wearing: Dress- Zara, Sandals- Coach (on sale!), Cardigan- Old (similar here),

Red is one of my favorite colors to wear basically all year round. It’s flattering and in many cases can pass as a neutral. This particular Zara dress has been a longtime go-to, and I’ve been able to style it many ways, but always love this minimalist, classically chic look.

Wearing: Dress- Calvin Klein, Shoes- 3.1 Phillip Lim (unfortunately they’re currently sold out – similar here), Scarf- Ralph Lauren (similar and other print options here), Cardigan- Theory, Bag- Rebecca Minkoff, Sunglasses- Michael Kors

I’ve talked about styling this dress in this post, but I find myself wearing it with such frequency that it’s worth another look. Back in the winter I was adding some tights, a pair of cute boots, but now that it’s officially springtime, I really feel like color to contrast a classic black is the way to go.
