I just got these adorable leather peep-toes earlier this week and immediately had to wear them! My favorite part has to be the embroidery. It just makes them so unique!
I was feeling some serious spring vibes with this look. I was lucky the weather was cooperating with me that day. We’ve just been on the craziest weather rollercoaster here in Washington D.C. Yesterday it was 70 degrees, and as I’m sitting here writing this right now, it’s in the 30s and slushing! I just have my entire wardrobe strewn out, ready to switch from summer to winter on a minute’s notice.
But back to talking about my outfit, I went with my stand-on-its-own Marc by Marc Jacobs silk dress. This print is bold, like really bold, so the key is to tone the rest of the look way down. And the best way to do this is with neutral, well-fitted pieces. I like this dress a lot for the spring season for a couple reasons. First, it’s a maxi, so it’s great for those transitional days where it’s not quite warm enough. Second, I don’t think you should be afraid of a loud pattern. I instead think that you should make it the absolute main focus of your outfit. Which is exactly what I did here. I’ve linked a couple of my favorite printed maxis here (love the sleeves on this one!) and here (my favorite is the coral/gold combo).
I paired the dress with my all time favorite leather jacket from All Saints. I highly recommend investing in a quality made leather jacket. It’s a piece you’ll have for years and it looks good with pretty much everything. I get so much use out of this one. I say keep in mind fit, and stick to something a little more classic in terms of shape and color, especially if this is your first one. All Saints is actually an awesome brand for mid-priced leather. I’m wearing this exact one, but also love this and this one with sleeve details.
And then of course there are the shoes! God, I love these shoes! The peep-toe is such a fun in between sandals and booties. I can already see myself wearing them with a pair of ankle jeans and a flowy blouse, or with a cute sundress. They add a bit of edge to a more feminine look, and have such an effortlessly chic feel. I absolutely love when pieces are effortless, but pack so much punch. I’m linking a couple of my favorite peep-toes here and here.
Happy weekend to all!
