I wore this outfit a couple weeks ago and I was really feeling like doing something creative. So I repurposed a dress as a skirt. This ruffle dress (I call it my cupcake dress) has served me well, and I’ve been able to wear it to tons of places this summer. I did a feature on it in a previous blog post about Miami, which you can read here.
Anyways, you can’t really wear a dress like that to the office so I decided to layer a tank underneath, push it down to skirt level, and add my new favorite duster (which I wrote about here). This is a great outfit for that transitional summer to fall weather. It’s feminine, but also on trend. It’s also a great way to incorporate traditionally summer details like ruffles and the gold mules I’m wearing into the cooler seasons. Just make sure you’re pairing these pieces with new materials like suede or velvet, and beginning to layer.
In life news, my brother is coming to visit me at the end of the week, and I’m so excited to spend some time with him. It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, and I’ve got a few fun activities planned, like going to get a big breakfast Friday morning, a visit to the Hive exhibit at The National Building Museum, and a day trip to the beach.
Hope everyone has a great start to the week!
