It hasn’t really felt much like May the last couple days, or even weeks, and I wanted to style an option that was still bright, fun, but more weather appropriate. I love a big pop of color, and though there might be such a thing as too much color, I really like the way the deep orange of the cardigan goes with the blush of the flats.
I wore this to work, and it really added that oomph I needed to get me through the gray skies. This skirt and cardigan I’ve had for a while now, but I don’t pair them together often, but I love the way that I’ve repurposed this cardigan as more of a top. If you’ve seen Empire Records (which is one of my favorites), you will know that Renee Zellweger’s character wears a cardigan as a top, and I found that so inspirational back when I first watched it, that I started wearing all the cardigans I had without a layer underneath. Of course it’s much easier to get away with that when you’re not in the office, so this time around I added a basic gray top just to make sure it wouldn’t be too risquée. But I definitely recommend trying it out on the weekend with a cropped version and a mini skirt. Very Empire Records, and very effortlessly cool.
These flats I’ve been wearing to work non-stop. I am loving the lace-up trend, and I think blush can almost be treated as a neutral. I’ve certainly treated it as such here, and I think it elevated the outfit from a more traditional feel, and made it feel much more light, and spring-like.
I’m headed to Minnesota for MDW, where I will be spending some much needed time with my parents, and also attending a wedding. I bought a gorgeous blue Halston Heritage dress to wear, and cannot wait to show you guys. I will also work on styling some MDW outfits and posting on Instagram.
