I’ve decided to do an Instagram outfit roundup, and gather a bunch of the outfit of the day shots I’ve been sharing and compile a sort of lookbook for you guys. I’m not going to link all the pieces (since that would take a long while), but I’ll point out some favorites and discuss them a bit.
So Washington D.C. in July is hot. Like really hot. You really have to go with lightweight pieces and the less is more approach with your outfits. For me that means lighter colors (though I still can’t get rid of you, classic black), shorter skirts, and easy tanks.
Both of the jean skirts I got at Loft and I absolutely live in them in the summer. I’m linking some great, affordable options here and here (both are extra 50% off!). This white skirt is a new favorite mine, and is just perfect paired with my Dolce Vita slides. A white tank with some sparkle details keeps things interesting (similar options here and here) and this Genuine People top and Guess crop top (though black) are really easy to wear and let that sliver of stomach breathe freely. The lace up tank from Urban Outfitters literally goes with everything, but especially with all sorts of jean shorts. My exact top is no longer available but there’s still plenty of cool options left here. And as I’ve already mentioned several times, these Current/Elliot shorts are my favorite things ever made, I also love a good pair of cutoffs and am linking to some cool ones here and here.
In terms of office attire, it can be a challenge in these 90+ (yes that is actually the weather here in D.C. at this very moment) temps to hit the balance of appropriate and not drowning in a pile of your own sweat. I love this super light button-up dress from Alexander Wang. It has the most adorable studs around the collar which totally elevates it from your basic, basic. It’s currently sold out on Outnet.com so I’m linking a similar one here. I also just recently got the navy Ralph Lauren dress (very similar option here), and though it covers all the right parts, there’s still room for some lacy cutouts.
And of course there’s all those summer shoes! I can’t say enough good things about these blush wedges, and the Dolce Vita slides mentioned earlier in this post get worn every day. I am also a big fan of these loafers, which look much more designer than they really are, and can transition seamlessly into the fall season.
I hope you all enjoyed and found this post helpful! For more outfit inspiration, you can check out my Instagram, where I post daily doses of style.
