I’ve decided to take on a project with my closet and that project is to wear every piece in my wardrobe; if I can’t bring myself to wear something, it has to go. The catch is that I’m going in order of pieces hung up, which has really started to get the creative juices flowing. No matter the day, if it’s next it has to be incorporated. The goal is to rediscover my clothes, and make room for new loves.
The first item was this sparkly tank. It was also a Monday morning. What a start! I’ve had it forever and I love being sparkly, but how to make it work for the office. Here’s what I came up with. Layer a simple black tee underneath, tuck both tops into a classic black pencil skirt (mine is leather but you know whatever, still counts), and add some pumps. Why does this work? Well, because you’re making a what would otherwise be a night on the town top daytime appropriate by covering everything else up with more conservative, neutral pieces. The sequins are still the focal point, but against a classic backdrop. And the heels just add length and continue with the office theme.
Wearing this really made me reminisce on how I used to dress in high school and college; I was definitely much more creative with my outfit choices. It made me realize I had been in a bit of a fashion rut. But no more! Today was this multicolored peplum top I had bought at Express years ago, and I paired it with more color (check out on Instagram)! The look will be on the blog tomorrow.
I hope everyone is having a great start to the week!
Until next time,
