This skirt has a 90’s, almost Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the high school years (at least Willow’s high school years), kind of feel to it and I absolutely had to have it. It’s a standout piece, with a lot going on in terms of print, color, cut, and flow, so it can be a little difficult to style. But I never shy away from a challenge.

Last time I featured this skirt on a blog post, I let the skirt stand alone and muted the rest of the look with gray and black basics. But I also wanted to show something a bit bolder.

Here I’ve paired a print on top of another print, but I stuck to a similar flowy fabric and flower pattern. The key to having these two pieces complement each other rather than clash, is to keep everything in the same family. I kept with a black and pink color scheme, and added structure with a leather jacket and loafers. I think that really balances the outfit and keeps it current.

Playing with prints can be a total hassle free activity. Just remember to pair like with like, keep colors to a minimum, and maintain balance. I love how this look invokes such 90’s flower child vibes!
