Last week was one of those incredibly hot days in Washington D.C, over 90 degrees and humid. Which basically means any thoughts you had of wearing a beautiful outfit to work and keeping it sweat free should leave your head immediately. The best thing to do on a day like that is to keep it simple, with easy, breathable pieces that are easy to style.
I started with a basic white tee, and I have to say that it’s quickly becoming a staple in my wardrobe. The key is to find one that is 100% cotton because it’s easy to wear and won’t retain heat. This one is from a sale from Loft, which is a really great place to stock up on quality basics. Next I slipped on a jean skirt, also from Loft, which to be honest, I have been skeptical about jean skirts in the past (they seem kind of middle school at first), but now I absolutely love them. They look great with anything, and this particular one has an overlapping layer, which brings out a bit of my personal style and keeps the outfit from being too generic. My shoes are those gold mule sandals I can’t stop talking about. So comfortable, stylish, and I love the color. I was going to do a black shoe, but it’s summer and the goal was to make this look as hassle free as possible and to let air in any way I could. There’s just something about a mule that is so breathable.
I’m definitely going to be wearing variations of this outfit all over town for the rest of the summer!
